We are third generation family farmers located in the Blenheim area, and have grown up and reside in the “Heart of the Golden Acres.” We currently farm approximately 600 acres of land and plant corn, soybeans and wheat, as well as 25 acres of dark-fired tobacco. Our peach orchard spans 40 acres and consists of. Our peach orchard spans 40 acres and consists of three different varieties that allow us to spread out the harvest season from mid-August until mid to late September. When we first started in the peach business we were contracted to deliver our product to the Delmonte plant in Niagara. With the subsequent closing of that facility however, our market choices became quite limited. We then decided to try processing our own product and, voila! “Golden Acres Peach Company” was born.
Ken & Annie DeBrouwer
Ken DeBrouwer is a graduate of the Ridgetown College of Agricultural Technology, class of 1985, and a proud farmer for 27 years. His wife, Annie, is a full-time registered nurse for Women and Children’s Health at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. They have four children. Rachelle has an undergraduate degree in Honours English and Visual Arts and is currently working on her Bachelor of Education degree at Queen’s University. Quinn is enrolled at the University of Guelph for a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Food and Agri-Business. Erika is enrolled at Western University, Brescia campus, studying Food and Nutrition. Reiss has been accepted to the University of Guelph for the Honours Co-op Food Science program.
